This article explains how difficult the creation of a national identity in Italy was after its political unification in 1861-1871. The singularities of the former States were always very present and this kept the Italians from being inserted into a shared national community.
Este artigo evidencia as dificuldades inerentes à construção de uma identidade nacional em Itália após a unificação política, ocorrida entre 1861 e 1871. Os particularismos dos antigos Estados continuaram muito presentes, impedindo a germinação de sentimentos de pertença a uma mesma comunidade nacional.
